Using supermarkets well can make a big difference to the cost and comfort of a stay in Fuerteventura, especially if you are in an apartment or villa. The island has large supermarkets, smaller local shops and tourist-area convenience stores, each useful for different things.

Large supermarkets

For a full weekly shop, larger stores generally offer the widest range and make it easier to compare prices. They are useful for water, breakfast items, fruit, snacks and household basics. If you have a car, doing one larger shop can be more efficient than buying everything in small convenience stores near the beach.

Local shops and specialist products

Smaller shops can be ideal for bread, fruit, cheese or a quick top-up. Look out for Majorero cheese and other Canarian products if you want to try local flavours without eating every meal in a restaurant.

Plan around long beach days
